Premiere Watch: Hyperlink: Consume, Appreciate, Kill Insider Yumi’s Cells two
by missvictrix

The June barrage of drama premieres continues this week, and we have 3 new shows. 1st, the emotional linkage romance with Yeo Jin-gu and Moon Ga-young that, if absolutely nothing else, will be a fantastic pairing. Subsequent, a thriller featuring a different fantastic pairing: Kang Haneul and Lee Yoo-young. And final but not least, Yumi’s Cells is back for season two! And that screeching sound you hear is just me, gearing myself up for much more fantastic writing.

Hyperlink: Consume, Appreciate, Kill

Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Romance, fantasy, mystery, drama
Episode count: 16
Causes to watch: I like the concept of this pairing, and the premise of a mysterious emotional hyperlink appears as great as any for cute K-drama hijinks, suitable tragic backstory, and the like. I have no doubt that our leads will bring the story to life — but the script is exactly where the rubber meets the road, and our writer right here has Suspicious Companion and I Try to remember You on their resume. Although not great, I’m okay with each of these as frames of reference, and with chef Yeo Jin-gu thrown into the mix, I’m hoping this is a lot of enjoyable.

Time slot: Wednesday-Thursday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Action, thriller, drama
Episode count: 16
Causes to watch: Kang Haneul is back in dramaland as a judicial trainee whose undercover mission goes terribly awry and lands him in prison. That logline is adequate to pull me in, for positive, mainly because there’s absolutely nothing fairly like a hero who’s been wronged and has to somehow turn the tables. Also starring are Lee Yoo-young, Heo Sung-tae, and Kim Sang-ho, amongst the other talent, and I have a feeling we’ll have a dark and gritty tale ahead.
Yumi’s Cells two

Time slot: Friday-Saturday
Broadcaster: TVING
Genre: Romance, slice-of-life
Episode count: 14
Causes to watch: I will just about deny the will need for any K-drama to have several seasons, but there are a handful of exceptions, and Yumi’s Cells is 1 of them. 1st, mainly because it fits the type of the supply material, and second, mainly because I loved the initial season so really significantly, I’m prepared and waiting for much more. Somehow, Yumi’s Cells managed to take a idea that sounded juvenile and turn it into a beautiful layer of metaphor, and I’m expecting much more of the identical from season two. (The only query mark right here is why in the planet tvN does not want to broadcast it straight alternatively of streaming.)
